Frederick Leighton B: 12/2/1873, Ashland Twp, Dodge Co, MN
m: Lydia Hitchcock, 10/16/1901, Claremont, Dodge Co, MN
daughter, Olive Leighton, B: 1902, Dodge Co, MN; her mother, Lydia died sometime after the 1905 Census. In 1910 Frederick is in Lake George, Hubbard Co, MN, "Widowed" living with his in-laws: Oliver and Delia Hitchcock, Olive is living with his parents: Morton and Hannah Leighton. He was 61 when he married his 2nd wife, Christine before the 1935/1940 Census, Mpls, MN, her occupation, apartment building caretaker; no occupation listed for Frederick. Fred died 1/28/1943, age 68; he is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN; inscription: Beloved husband of Christine. I have no information for Christine before 1940 or after the 1943 death of her husband, Frederick Leighton.

George Leighton B: 4/17/1877, Minnesota
m: Amanda Whiting 9/12/1900, Ripley Twp, Minnesota
Children: Roger Harold, Ralph Walter, Laura I, Helen Ione, Edith Florence, Avis Eleanor.
1910 Claremont, Dodge, MN, George is Farming, owns home. They moved to Alexandria, Douglas Co, MN around 1916. 1920 George is Laborer, Renting. 1930 George Rural Mail Carrier, Owns home. 1940 Rurual Letter Carrier, Owns home. George died 10/13/1954 in Alexandria, age 77; Amanda died 3/31/1963 age 82 in Spokane, Washington (appears she went to live with her daughter Helen Ione who died there 12/20/1986). I have no burial information for either of them.

Nettie Leighton B: 12/6/1875, Dodge Co, Minnesota
m: William C Langworthy, 1894; living in Ashland Twp, Dodge Co, MN
Children: Charles Joe, Maude Verna, Nora J, Lucy Mae, Grant Merlin, Dolly G, James B, Ellen Hannah, Velva A, Stella Iona, Ruby Lavone, Ernest William.
1900 Todd Co, MN, William is Farming, Renting. 1910 Ashland, Dodge, MN, William is Farming, Renting. 1920 Lebanon, Dakota, MN, William is Farming, Renting. 1930 Waterford, Dakota, MN (age 60) Farming, Renting. William died in 6/23/1937 age 67; Nettie died 4/2/1958 age 82; they are buried at Riverside Cemetery, Dodge Center, Minnesota. Note: 1940 Nobles, MN, Nettie is living with her nephew (through marriage) A Z Reckman.

Mary Jane Leighton B: 8/15/1886, in a covered wagon traveling from Nebraska to Minnesota. Mary never married, she lived with her older brother, James Leighton, on his farm in Ripley Twp, Dodge Co, MN; she is listed with him in the 1910, 1920, 1930, 1940. Mary died 10/30/1979 age 93; she is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.

m: Mayme G Hastad 1/22/1919, Steele County, MN
Children: Edna Marie, Gerald Lowell
1920 Westfield, Dodge, MN, Albert Farming, Renting. 1930 Wasioja, MN, Farming, Hired Man (lodging included). 1940 Steele Co, MN, Laborer, Sewer Construction (Government work), Renting. Mayme died in Steele Co, 3/15/1945 age 45; Albert died 7/2/1963 age 80 in Hennepin County, MN





James Bryd Leighton B: 7/21/1872, Ashland Twp, Dodge Co, MN
I have no record of his marriage, they share a Headstone, her Inscription, Lizzy B. 1872-1909; in the 1910 Census he is listed as "Widowed" living in Ripley Twp; sisters Mary 23, Myrtle 18 living with him; Farmer, Renting. 1920 Ripley Twp, Dodge Co, MN, age 47; parents Morton 69, Hannah 67 and sister, Mary 33, living with him; farming on own account. 1930 Ripley Twp, Dodge Co, MN, age 57; sister Mary 44, nephew Harvey Leighton 19 living with him; Farmer, Employer. 1935 and 1940 same address and occupation; sister Mary 53 lives with him.
James died 10/13/1951 age 79, he is buried Saint Francis De Sales Catholic Cemetery, Claremont, Dodge Co, MN

Morton Leighton B: 7/1/1850, Jefferson, WI
m: Hannah Lynch, 6/1/1871, age 20,  in Kasson, Dodge Co, MN
They lived in Ashland Twp, Dodge Co, MN. In 1880 they lived in Everett, Burt, NE, Morton was a Laborer. In 1886 they traveled by covered wagon back to Minnesota, daughter, Mary Jane was born on the trip. In 1900 Ripley Twp, Dodge Co, MN, Morton was Farming, Renting Farm. In 1910 Necedah, Juneau, WI, no occupation listed, Own Home. In 1920 Ripley Twp, Dodge Co, MN, age 67, living with son James Leighton, age 47, who is farming on his own account; James' sister, Mary, age 33, also lives with him. Hannah died 9/21/1924 age 72; Morton died 2/24/1929 age 78; they are buried at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN Note, see Media: Morton Gilbert Leighton's Ancestry: Morton's Certificate of Death indicates he was an orphan. The 1910 Census reflects that both his parents were born in Austria.

Dennis Leighton B: 1/10/1890, Dodge County, MN

Rochester, MN, 1956, Groundskeeper; 1957 and 1958 Gardener. Ruth died 1/30/1977 age 80; Dennis died 1/12/1991 age 101, both died in Wabasha, MN and are buried there at Riverview Cemetery.

    I am interested in further contact with you. I have the family picture that you have shown above. In fact, I may have the original.

  2. Hannah Lynch is my 3rd Great Aunt, her brother Timothy is my 2nd Great Grandfather, his daughter Clare Maud my Great Grandmother, she married George Alvey Gray. The family's were very close and those that moved away kept in contact through letters. I have a family tree on Ancestry, do you?
